Summary: "Great resource for feeding your baby!"

This book may be out of print but it's a great resource for anyone interested in making their own baby food. Behan gives concise information about cooking up foods for the beginning eater and the more sophisticated palate. She starts with a section about what parents need to know about nutrition and food safety for children. Then she has an extremely useful section on individual foods that discusses preparation, cooking, how to serve to infants or toddlers, storage, and nutrition Then the last section provides recipes for a wide variety of dishes that may appeal to your child.

This book stays on my kitchen counter as I introduce new foods to my infant. Butternut squash (something I don't personally eat), the book tells you how to cook it in the microwave for 10 minutes (easy!) scoop out and puree. It was great! The baby loved it and I thought even I'd eat it! Why pay 50 cents a jar for mashed bananas at the grocery store when you can easily do it yourself at home? This book gives you all the information you need and even some great ideas.

It is an older book so some of the information about safety is a little outdated (she discusses alar and apples for instance). It would benefit greatly from a new edition. But it is still a wonderful resource that I highly recommend.
